At first, my only goal was safety — I just wanted to keep Whiskers out of the dryer.
Mission accomplished.
But then… I started noticing little things.
She was moving differently.
More freely.
Hopping onto the couch again.
Climbing the stairs to sleep beside me.
Grooming herself like she used to — calm, focused, content.
During a follow-up call, I mentioned it to Dr. Kim.
She smiled. “That’s not surprising,” she said.
“When cats are constantly cold, their bodies are always working just to stay warm.
Once that stress is gone, everything starts to heal.
They act like themselves again.”
Then she added softly,
“Remember, Whiskers has mild arthritis.
The X-rays showed it that night.
Cold weather makes it worse.
But steady warmth helps loosen the joints, keeps them moving.”
I didn’t buy the mat for arthritis.
I bought it to keep my cat safe.
But the same warmth that protected her…was quietly giving her body a second chance.
